I don’t understand why anyone would enjoy or cheer the fact that he’s a pompous idiot. It helps absolutely nothing, it’s irritating to listen to, and it makes us all look like fools to the world.

Yet, I can’t deny that many people like that about him, and I can’t understand why.

Honesty is irrelevant in politics, you ignore what doesn't help you, or you lose to someone who does, you embellish when it benefits you, or you lose to someone who does.
Honesty schmonesty, honest politicians don't win, the few times they do win, they win because of lack of competition.

Just win baby, don't let honesty hold you back, the vast majority of successful politicians don't let it hold them back, they want to keep their jobs, or get the job in the first place, and honesty isn't going to get them there.

An honest politician is too inflexible to win over a significant portion of the electorate, they don't have the name value, nor are they as entertaining, as the clown politician, and they can't compete in that scenario.
