What's your take on increased revenue, as a result of increased wages for a populace that spends at a near 1:1 rate?
You have to push from the bottom if you want to do that, like, guaranteed minimum income, so it doesn't fall on the backs of the small businesses, if you try to pull from the top, the little guy businesses get crushed and corporate big business blocks out the sky, and because they are so efficient, they can jettison workers to make up for the wage increases, so you end up with less work not more, which is poorer workers not richer.
I get a whiff of Seattle attempting to privilege small businesses. They passed a tax on soda distributers, but if your company makes less than 2 million annually, you're exempt. You might be right about small businesses of a certain size, but think about that food cart truck with only one worker, the owner. Their increased revenue. I bet that guy or gal is loving it. So, how to protect the middle class of businesses?
Quit subsidizing the big business.

Simple testable questions. Do minimum wage increases result in increased revenue for businesses? Guess that's not a simple question at all.
Whatever, I don't actually care, I can't access any revenue from nickmoore's furniture store, so it's actually in my interest to put nickmoore out of business, government imposed costs don't hurt big business, and they drive revenue towards the equity markets, so while I am opposed to them philosophically, I don't have anything against nickmoore personally, I do own Costco et al, so it's pretty much my job to crush nickmoore like a bug.

I appreciate your honesty.

Anecdotally though, they haven't cut my hours, and min wage increases mean more money. Even if they did, I just get a second job. Not like where I work gives overtime. People telling me that min wage increases are bad for me, it isn't translating just yet.

What is translating is I'm making more money.

Well, a small number of workers will get slightly more money for a short window of time, at the expense of the overall low wage work force and their long term prospects, so you cutting your fellow low wage workers throats, to get a few extra shekels, driving more revenue towards me? More power to you, all to the advantage of the equity markets, cha-ching, thank you, come again, suckah.

They might throw the little guy a bone, exempting non existent soda companies for example, but more importantly isn't Starbucks exempt?

These laws are retarded.

9.00 here in orlando. We actually just lowered our minimum wage, so the price of milk here is inverse to wages. Not surprising really, people who are poor don't have dental insurance so they need to get all the calcium they can get to protect those chompers. Lower wage=more milk consumed. Supply and demand. Econ 101 btw.

Yeah I don't think so. But we'll see what the data says in time.

Even of it was the case, it's just forcing change, forcing us to deal with a big problem. Automation is coming to take most of the jobs, so better to get it over with then half ass it, and deal with it in dribs and drabs. Force the issue. Let's move on already, interesting times better than good times and all that.
