Minimum Wage just went up to $11.50 in Washington State. The price of milk is $2.68 a Gallon.

Whatever, I don't actually care, I can't access any revenue from nickmoore's furniture store, so it's actually in my interest to put nickmoore out of business, government imposed costs don't hurt big business, and they drive revenue towards the equity markets, so while I am opposed to them philosophically, I don't have anything against nickmoore personally, I do own Costco et al, so it's pretty much my job to crush nickmoore like a bug.jediuser598 wrote:I get a whiff of Seattle attempting to privilege small businesses. Simple testable questions. Do minimum wage increases result in increased revenue for businesses? Guess that's not a simple question at all.

I appreciate your honesty.
Anecdotally though, they haven't cut my hours, and min wage increases mean more money. Even if they did, I just get a second job. Not like where I work gives overtime. People telling me that min wage increases are bad for me, it isn't translating just yet.
What is translating is I'm making more money.

Well, a small number of workers will get slightly more money for a short window of time, at the expense of the overall low wage work force and their long term prospects, so you cutting your fellow low wage workers throats, to get a few extra shekels, driving more revenue towards me? More power to you, all to the advantage of the equity markets, cha-ching, thank you, come again, suckah.jediuser598 wrote:I appreciate your honesty.

They might throw the little guy a bone, exempting non existent soda companies for example, but more importantly isn't Starbucks exempt?

9.00 here in orlando. We actually just lowered our minimum wage, so the price of milk here is inverse to wages. Not surprising really, people who are poor don't have dental insurance so they need to get all the calcium they can get to protect those chompers. Lower wage=more milk consumed. Supply and demand. Econ 101 btw.

Yeah I don't think so. Even of it was the case, it's just forcing change, forcing us to deal with a big problem. Automation is coming to take most of the jobs, so better to get it over with then half ass it, and deal with it in dribs and drabs. Force the issue. Let's move on already, interesting times better than good times and all that.
