Because the congress represents the people who elected them. If the congress is brainless, what does that mean about the people who put them there? I thought it was obvious.Speaker to Animals wrote:

So you think you can fix this by limiting membership in Congress by the one factor that correlates to wisdom and experience?
Maybe you are an example of why Congress is populated by assholes. Had you thought of that?

None of the people I voted for ever got in. So no, not really. Re: Age restrictions for Congress?
This is more what I was thinking without quite getting there. Age is correlated to some of the problems TC brought up, but it isn't such a force that a strict age limit would be effective in keeping out dottards but still ensure good legislators who happen to be old can serve. The problems lie in having entrenched politicians, so term limits make sense to me, although I would be inclined to make them generous.clubgop wrote:Term limits would fix a lot of this. To me that is more desirable and necessary than any age restrictions.

1 term per person and immediate family per position.
Anyone with any downside to that; chime in, let's discuss.

Not enough qualified legislators in some districts.

Got to give them some incentive one term is all too easy to cash out on.Fife wrote:1 term per person and immediate family per position.

I'm just envisioning a never ending train of promisers (not a lot different I guess,) and a lot of governor moon beams. Besides, I think legislation moves too slowly for that as it stands.Fife wrote:1 term per person and immediate family per position.

Our politicians are criminals. All of them. Its obvious nothing is working correctly
No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session
