NATO? What's the big whoop? The Soviet Union is no more, the Warsaw Pact is no more, the Europeans outnumber the Russians 5 to 1, outspend the Russians 10 to 1, and they have nuclear weapons, what is it again, that the Europeans supposedly need from us?

We already sent our troops to fight for NATO, and what happened? The Americans took off to Iraq, the Europeans refused to fight, and we got stuck holding the bag, so, you know, fuck NATO.

What NATO countries spend on NATO don't amount to shit, it's a nonsensical fallacy, in our experience, the Americans will fight with us, the British will fight with us, and the Australians will fight with us, and that's about it, and the Australians aren't even in NATO. /shrugs

Honestly we had an interesting discussion awhile back about NATO and you did cause me to re-evaluate my position Smitty. But I do agree with you that NATO is a relic from the Cold War.

I read an article awhile back about how the missile defenses being developed by the US have been in the works for decades and were even having trouble hitting stationary targets. Do you think effective missile shield technology will ever be developed?

Yeah, Missile Defense Agency has spent $200 billion to build 45 ABM's in Alaska, but the Pentagon says that it takes 5 of those to shoot down 1 MIRV, and since the Russians have 1750 MIRVs on alert, that would only knock them back to 1741, pretty sure 1741 MIRV's would get the job done.

But since the priority target is four American ICBM bases on the Great Plains, if I was Mr. Ivan, I wouldn't launch from Europe, I'd launch from no man's land, in Canadian waters, by way of the ice.
