Exactly.

The way my civics instructor explained it seems to have held true for my lifetime. Without the left, we'd never move forward. Without the right, we'd make changes way too fast, and instability would rule the country.

We need a little of each.

That's also why the house has to get re-elected after 2 years but the senate gets a six year term. House is more fickle; senate is more stable.

On Saturday, Tammy joined thousands of courageous men, women and children at the Women’s March in​ Washington, D.C.

The Washington Post covered her speech about the real threats to women's rights and civil rights in our country.

Tammy Duckworth wears ‘Don’t f with me’ jacket

She said the best way we can fight for our rights is for more people to get involved in the political process and share their personal stories.

“I didn’t give up literally parts of my body to have the Constitution trampled on … to have them roll back our rights … You will not roll back our rights, not as long as we’re here, not as long as we’re breathing.”

Tammy hopes everyone takes the positive energy from yesterday and brings it back to their local communities. We have a lot of work to do, but we can do it together.

Duckworth followed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who asked the crowd to work for a Congress that is 51 percent women, like the country.

Such a Congress, she said, would not still be fighting for coverage of contraception or to address sexual assault in the military.

“This is the beginning of the revival of the women’s movement,” she said.

Like I said, I see both sides. We are the United States, not the United People.

If we weren't about the states being united, we'd just nationally elect 100 senators and 434 reps.

The peeps tell their state how they want to vote. It's always been that way.

Very well put. If the UNITED States wants to stay united, it better let the 42 States have a say too. However, it may be time for the "United" part to die. Either federal power needs to diminish, or 50% of the population will always feel they are discriminated against. I have no intention of letting socialists in NYC & Cal tell me what to do.

Why even do that? Get rid of another layer and go 1 citizen = 1 vote

Having rural votes count for more than urban votes by default unequal representation.

Equal representation can only be achieved by one vote per citizen.

Whenever this argument comes up, everyone forgets that nowhere, especially cities is some monolithic bloc. Even here Clinton only got 61% of the votes.

(Again, I'm just taking the opposition side. I can argue your side, too. I just don't think the answer is easy.)

We became the United People as soon as the Articles of Confederation were killed for the Constitution. The Civil War tested that and proved that the Federal Government is supreme and the states are not allowed to be "states" in the classic sense of the word. The states should be nothing more than an administrative division.
