So pretty unlikely anyone is going to try to overturn the ban then. Do you have much renewable energy in Canada? Must be pretty windy in your long winters.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

You'll note that Obama exhempted the North Slope field, where the headwaters of the Alaska pipeline are, they're drilling away to beat the band, up at Prudoe Bay, ain't profitable for Canada yet, cause we haven't built the pipeline to bring it south.

The Liberals in Ontario are killing wind, they've poisined the wind, the wind power is so expensive, in a few years, Green Energy is going to be more unpopular than child molesting.Montegriffo wrote:So pretty unlikely anyone is going to try to overturn the ban then. Green Energy is bringing itself down under its own weight.

How does drilling off the coast of Virginia threaten ecology in the arctic?Montegriffo wrote:http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/20/us/ob ... .html?_r=0Mr. Obama invoked an obscure provision of a 1953 law, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, which he said gives him the authority to act unilaterally. While some presidents have used that law to temporarily protect smaller portions of federal waters, Mr. Obama’s declaration of a permanent drilling ban on portions of the ocean floor from Virginia to Maine and along much of Alaska’s coast is breaking new ground. The declaration’s fate will almost certainly be decided by the federal courts.

Tell you right now, the furture of non-dam related Canadian energy, is natural gas fired, wind and solar are running disasters for the economy, there is about to be a backlash against Green Energy here, which will persist for generations to come.
Green Energy Plan in Ontario? 80% against, right now, and this backlash is just getting warmed up. In a few years, any politcian even says the words "Green Energy", and they'll be inciting a riot, rage is not too strong a word, to describe the backlash against Green Energy here already.

Agreed. That's why we need to line the hippies up against a wall and go nuclear damned the political ramifications. We simply need some scientists to speak up and allay the publics fears concerning it. We need politicians willing to push it. It won't be no Stein mind you. It's going to involve war and wailing of gnashing teeth to convince the public we need to abandon Saudi asap. And I'm more than halfway there myself. I'm telling you this could be a thing matter of fact. Certain fringes of the political ether are sniffing at it as I type this.Smitty-48 wrote:The Liberals in Ontario are killing wind, they've poisined the wind, the wind power is so expensive, in a few years, Green Energy is going to be more unpopular than child molesting.Montegriffo wrote:So pretty unlikely anyone is going to try to overturn the ban then. People hate nuclear here too, exponentially overpriced, could get clean energy from the rivers in Quebec for a tenth of the price of nuclear, nuclear is the giant boondoggle of the 1960's, fuck nuclear too.TheReal_ND wrote:Agreed. We're already buying power from Quebec, to try to offset the exhorbitant price of nuclear.

Not true, check out this non PV solar plant in Morocco https://www.theguardian.com/environment ... olar-plantTheReal_ND wrote:Plenty of renewable sources of energy too, wind, solar and tidal are all making good progress in Europe.
Solar is a dead end. The amount of solar panels you have to make to get a return on the amount of energy used to make them is ridiculous.
Nuclear.
Plenty of non-productive land in the world. The Chinese have just signed an agreement to build a huge solar plant around Chernobyl and deserts all over the world are good locations.

Nah fuck this. I'm going to take nuclear's side because it's implicitly white. You can't run a nuclear plant without white people. We'll hold a fucking dead man's switch over all your asses.
Nuclear.
