Just because it won't solve the entire problem doesn't mean it won't reduce the problem. The wall isn't designed to stop VISA overstays, stop fronting like it is. A wall is designed to stop people from crossing the border by land in the sections where the wall exists. Wanting good border security and wanting a wall are not contradictory thoughts, stop pretending that they are.

Now, good luck figuring out how to convince Americans that their food should be more expensive and their drugs aren't as wonderful as they think. The only way to win the war on drugs is not to play. Take away the power of the cartels. Bring it out into the sunshine. Don't demonize pot smokers.

I'm quite confused that you don't want to punish businesses who hire cheap labor. Do you want the illegals gone or not? If you do, you want to control it by enforcing the laws. If you do not, why do you want a wall. Your positions seem to contradict one another.
You don't need illegals for cheap labor and services. You can still get all that shit legally. We could make some kind of ransom program to make the legal ones report back when they're supposed to.

We already started down this road with the families of terrorists.

You have your ass back here on the 30th, or Abuela's gettin' whacked. Comprende?

I would be all for crucifying business that use illegal labor.

Just make sure justice is applied consistently between Big Co. and Little Co.
It won't. You'll kill the guy trying to run a landscaping business, while Walmart makes billions on Chinese slave labor.

We don't need fucking SSNs for immigration control.
I was just calculating the scale of this White Elephant that you're going to blow forty billion on, which, now that MIT has set me straight on the more realistic cost, is actually almost 20 Virgnia Class SSN's, or about one third of the US submarine fleet.

Do we really need more subs?

Depends on how much you feel the need to overmatch the Russians and Chinese at sea, to maintain deterence vis a vis their nuclear forces.

Yeah, I'm feeling pretty safe at the moment....at least safe enough to spend $40+ bill for a few years on a wall.....

Russia is still 10-15 years behind US Mil Tech. And China is 10 years behind them.

That's fine, I wasn't actually saying it was either-or, you could build the wall and build the submarines, I was just getting a sense of "what does $40 billion buy", although, detering the Russians and Chinese at sea is not so much a tech issue as it is a numbers issue, the CONUS is effectively invulnerable to nuclear attack, so long as you have an SSN following the Russian and Chinese SSBN's around at all times. I wouldn't say the current generation of Russian submarines are that far behind though, the Chinese are behind, but the Russians are near parity for all intents and purposes.

No, Kath. I'm not. I want to allow a limited amount of legal immigrant labor, as long as Abuelita has an explosive collar attached in the event that Jose doesn't show up to go back home when he's supposed to.

You're either being disingenuous, or you aren't paying attention, because you assume you already know what others want.
