Re: Income Inequality
I don't spend money on things that are meant to impress other people but I still spend as much as I want on the things that give me warm-n-fuzzies, and even though computers don't do that for me anymore, I can remember a time when they did. I always bought a $2K computer, and it was worth it to me. Loved them fuckers.

Nobody needs a $2,000 computer.
The computer inequality in this nation is disgusting.

Fife what exactly did you agree with/like about that podcast? To me it was nothing but dismissive of a real issue effecting not only the heart of our society (the middle class) but the survival of our society in general.SilverEagle wrote:Quality of life increases due to technical advancements is their main justification for the rape of the middle and lower classes. Oh but poor people can watch World Cup matches on TV so it's all good! The poor are just like the rich because they can see a World Cup match! That podcast was total crap! We (as a society) have been bought off by gadgets, gizmos, and told by the elites to STFU.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:It is all fine and good to talk about boot-strapping gumption, but there is a point where hard work won't make up for the fact you are a natural born cock-sucker in an economy that only values ass-play.
Complain about the unfairness of it all until you are blue in the face, but Hash is right... you got to do something to keep the cock-suckers in line.
In 1965 the CEO to average worker pay ratio was 65 to 1. It's now 300 to 1. That's all you really need to know about income inequality.
There is a time for good men to do bad things.

Wrong. We must not allow a PC performance gap.

How true that is, because if the gap gets too large, all the other brilliant but loser designs die until only Intel remains.Speaker to Animals wrote:Fife wrote:Nobody needs a $2,000 computer.

The "issue" is only "real" to Marxist economists and lo-info media consumers. I rate you higher than that.SilverEagle wrote:Fife what exactly did you agree with/like about that podcast? Anyway, the guest takes the position that Marxists like Piketty and his crowd have only one metric for "equality:" dollars. Once you accept that fallacy, anything--literally anything--is logically possible. It makes for a great lever for command economy/totalitarian "arguments."

Re: Income Inequality
You take a lot for granted. How many generations back do you have to go to find direct ancestors without electricity, clean water, transportation, access to information, &c? Do you think the state drew a line from that generation to your spoiled-brat ass? Or was there some other mysterious factor in play?SilverEagle wrote:Quality of life increases due to technical advancements is their main justification for the rape of the middle and lower classes. By far, the most expensive computer I have ever owned was my 1982 Commodore 64 and the peripherals.TheOneX wrote:^^Obviously has never owned a $2k computer.Fife wrote:Nobody needs a $2,000 computer.

I was obviously taking advantage of the poorest among us when I was buying that with the money I made doing fast food work.

Re: Income Inequality
We need to distribute two thousand dollar computers to everybody to even the playing field.
I can't tell you how many times I get wrecked on a game because my computer and/or internet bandwidth is not equal to the other guys. We need social justice now.
