You think the EU want us to leave?
Why wouldn't they?
It's easy enough for the EU to find another Middle Eastern country to replace the loss of Britain. Maybe one with oil this time.
Seriously though, it's a point of pride. You all announced you were leaving. Get the fuck out. Don't linger like that manipulative girlfriend who doesn't want you, but also doesn't want you to be happy. Just go. I'm sure the EU liked having you around, but once you dump them they should kick you to the curb.

The EU wants us to stay because it sets a bad example to others if we leave. However, if we insist on leaving they will make sure we leave with the worst possible deal to discourage others.
Hence the 50 billion dollar divorce bill they hit us with (which nobody mentioned before the referendum).
In fact, the leave side assured us there would be no divorce bill. Just one of many lies from both sides.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

If they fuck over the UK, we should just leave NATO together and form a new Anglo alliance (US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand).

lol the fact that this wasn't even supposed to happen in 2016 shows how much of a paper tiger the EU really is. I cannot get over how weird and hypocritical it is for smug EU defenders to warn that a breakaway will lead to xenophobia, rivalry, and extremist politicians, "Europe's dark past" when all of those things are present in multiple countries in the EU, and these forces sprang up because of the EU. If the UK really wanted to leave behind the dark past of Europe, then remaining in this flailing organization is not the way to do it.

The dark past is back -- in the form of the EU. The Nazis won by other means.

Thing is, it's the most important and possibly damaging thing the UK has done since Germany invaded Poland. It is too important to rush and risk fucking up.
That is why what sort of deal we leave with is so crucial.
It is also why the public should get a say in the final deal.
Before the referendum no-one had any idea what the deal would look like.
Think of it as buying a house without ever seeing it first. That is really not sound fiscal policy.
