The only stealthy things we need are true air superiority fighters and bombers. Everything else should be designed to support that in some way, especially with range and weapons loads.

Don't need stealth tankers, just need to move a little muscle to protect them, Russia lacks the horses to get through that muscle to hit all the tankers.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:05 pmThere is no way to make stealth tankers. There is no fix to this that doesn't involve extending the range of the fighters.
The fucked up thing about it is that they could have done that at the design phase. The fucking thing has weapons bay doors to lower missiles to be fired. It could have done the same thing with pylons that allowed customers to load external fuel tanks, drop them, and go stealth mode.
They didn't do that. It wasn't designed to actually win wars. It was designed to keep running up costs and make money at the expense of national security.
You can't even answer a damned point I make. All you do is repeat these hilarious lockmart slogans like somehow that all makes sense.
Therefore Russia will not kill all the tankers, they won't even try, they'll just pick off a few stragglers, because anything more than that would result in unacceptable loses, it would be suicide. You are talking out of your ass.

Doors aren't big enough for some missiles that you like, that is all you got? Sounds like a pretty sweet plane to me, if that's your best argument against it.

Re: What's going on in India?
Uh no. I have presented a handful of devastating facts about the F-35's poor performance. Some of which you ineffectually replied to. Don't pretend like you don't remember them.
The Rand Corporation’s Pacific Vision wargame simulating a conflict with China in 2008 found that even in a favorable scenario for the United States—half of U.S. missiles hit at long range and the none of their opponent’s do—a force of U.S. fighters outnumbered roughly three to one would be overwhelmed after firing off all its missiles. The less-maneuverable F-35s fared poorly in the ensuing dogfight. But in the end, nearly all of the U.S. fighters were lost.
Why? The hostile aircraft didn’t have trouble detecting the tankers supporting the U.S. forces. Unlike the F-22s and F-35s, tankers have neither the speed nor stealth to evade a determined attack.
If the tankers get shot down, it doesn’t just force the U.S. fighters to abandon the fight. It could force them to crash into the ocean, without enough fuel to make it back to base. In effect, a tanker would be a high-value target that U.S. air-superiority fighters would need to defend to the last.
That's a big fucking problem to which we currently have no solution. Range has to be extended. We are a sea power and are therefore the ones forced to project power globally. China and Russia are continental powers and can just pull us in and kill the tankers.

Now F-35 has to be a B-52 as well, it's F-35 v. fantasy super weapons that don't exist;
"ZOMG F-35 can't fly in space! What a boondoggle!"

Posting RAND corporation talking points is not an adequate indictment of the F-35, put down the Zerohedge.

In a real war with Russia or China, they are going to shoot down the tankers and those F-35s that survive the battle are going to be lost to the Pacific.
It's a fucking stupid airframe. Case closed.

No self awareness, again. You are the one making shit up, and not addressing our points, we've taken your bullshit apart point by point. You've got nothing but Mother Jones and Zerohedge talking points, which we already shot down even before you showed up in this thread, as well as after. That and projecting your own faults on us, that's all you got.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:15 pm

Re: What's going on in India?
I am telling you from experience: you need more than the F-35. The F-35 all by itself is likely going to lose us the next big war.StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:18 pmNo self awareness, again. Again: what the fuck do you think happens when they shoot down the tankers??
You cannot separate the F-35 from tankers. The two go hand in hand. If you lose the tankers you lose the F-35 too.
