Can't cower when the rain falls
And it falls whether you're Gandhi or you're Adolf
Fall weather vendors always are way off
Make the call no rain delay
Play ball
We didn't promise you a rose garden,
Along with sunshine, there's gonna be some rain sometimes

Re: Current US Military
Right from the get go an evangelizing America was out to free the slaves everywhere, twice they invaded Canada to "free" us, when that got shot down they went after Mexico to "free" them, and that worked out better, but 1861 was the birth of free the slaves as an industrialized entrenched interest, and once they drove ol' Dixie down, that became a wholly bipartisan entrenched interest, which then set out to "free" the indians, and then the Spaniards, and then the Europeans, and from there to the rest of the world beyond. . .

Viewed from a more distant future, I would submit, this will be seen as one continuous operation right from the Shot Heard Round The World, America's long war to save the world from itself by overthrowing Westphalian sovereignty in order to make the world America.
Whether it succeeds or not is neither here nor there, America will prevail, or die trying, it cannot but do what it was born to do.

And the idea that there is going to be a Collapse wherein America sees the light and then ceases its evangelical war to save the world from itself, is delusional, America has had collapses before, it just picks itself up, dusts itself off, and after a moment or two to catch its breath, goes right back to fighting the good fight to free the slaves everywhere, it's in the DNA, it cannot but do what it was born to do.
In order for it to cease, it would have to cease being America forevermore.

In fact, the collapses actually just spur America on to redouble its efforts, each time America is knocked down and then gets back up again, it becomes even more convinced of Divine Providence and its Manifest Destiny therein.

DoD starts crackdown on more than 280,000 non-deployable troops
The military can now begin pushing out almost any service member who has not been able to deploy in the past year and will be required to cut out those troops starting Oct. 1.
The Defense Department is cracking down on the roughly 286,000 troops who are not healthy enough to go overseas.
New policy put out by Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Robert Wilkie on Feb. 14, could affect 13 to 14 percent of the military force.
“The situation we face today is really unlike anything we have faced, certainly in the post-World War II era,” Wilkie said during a Feb. 14, Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee hearing. “If Mr. [Jeff] Bezos at Amazon walked into Christmas week and 14 percent of his workforce could not perform their duties then [it] would no longer be the largest company in the world,”

Look at war casualties compared to 50 and 100 years. The world is doing a neat job of saving itself.Smitty-48 wrote:And the idea that there is going to be a Collapse wherein America sees the light and then ceases its evangelical war to save the world from itself, is delusional, America has had collapses before, it just picks itself up, dusts itself off, and after a moment or two to catch its breath, goes right back to fighting the good fight to free the slaves everywhere, it's in the DNA, it cannot but do what it was born to do.
