Heydaralon must have run out of demerits 100 posts ago....
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

You know what's crazy tho; there are American Leafs fans, and not just Mike Augello, I've met hardcore Leafs fans in the US, and I was like "oh, you're from Toronto?", but they weren't, I've met Leafs fans from Texas, California, Florida, and they were the real deal, they knew it all, Dave Keon to Wendel Clark, died in the wool Leafs fans, born and raised in America, I was gobsmacked tbh.StCapps wrote:Do it. We like the little guys. American teams have all the money. Leafs are quirky enough to be a great team for people to follow.

One time when we were training in Florida, at Eglin, we got the weekend off, so we went touring around, and we ended up in St. Augustine, and a bunch of us Leafs Fans are at this bar watching the Leafs game, and we're wearing our Leafs kit, and this guy comes up wearing a Leafs sweater, and we didn't know him, but we assumed he was with us, so we says "what unit are you with?" thinking he was brigade support staff or something, but no, the guy didn't know what we were talking about, he was from St. Augustine, he came to the bar to watch his Leafs, and he sees all these Leafs fans, and he's like "Go Leafs Go!", he couldn't believe the bar was full of Leafs fans, he was the only one in town.

It's honestly an alien concept to me as a Leafs fan, where I come from, the Leafs are handed down from father to son, you don't decide to be a Leafs fan, you're born a Leafs fan, the idea that somebody could pick another towns team to root for, is hard for me to fathom.Speaker to Animals wrote:We like the little guys. Like Capps being a Avs fan, that's cray-cray, I mean, I know the Avs were a great dynasty in their day, but to be from Upper Canada, and root for the Avs, like really root for them, in your heart, I honestly don't get it.

It was a youthful rebellion thing that stuck, I was 8 when I switched from being a Leafs fan and never looked back, the Avs-Red Wings rivalry locked me in forever. It was fucking sweet staying up late and watching Avs playoffs game, Joe Sakic in playoff OT, that'll cement it even further. It's not like I was alone, a bunch of my friends switched to being Avs fans too.Smitty-48 wrote:It's honestly an alien concept to me as a Leafs fan, where I come from, the Leafs are handed down from father to son, you don't decide to be a Leafs fan, you're born a Leafs fan, the idea that somebody could pick another towns team to root for, is hard for me to fathom.Speaker to Animals wrote:We like the little guys. I loved Gentleman Joe, I loved Stevie Y, Team Canada comes second only to the Leafs, but to rebel against the Toronto Maple Leafs? That would be like trying to re-write my DNA, my earliest memory on this earth, is watching Dave Keon and Tim Horton, at the foot of my father, can't even conceive of not being a Leafs fan, literally an impossibility.StCapps wrote:It was a youthful rebellion thing that stuck, I was 8 when I switched and never looked back, the Avs-Red Wings rivalry locked me in forever.Smitty-48 wrote:It's honestly an alien concept to me as a Leafs fan, where I come from, the Leafs are handed down from father to son, you don't decide to be a Leafs fan, you're born a Leafs fan, the idea that somebody could pick another towns team to root for, is hard for me to fathom.Speaker to Animals wrote:We like the little guys. Well you see when I was growing up as a kid, the Leafs were at a low and perpetually mediocre point, and the Avs were the dynasty in the making, timing was everything, if I had been born earlier, or later, I might be a Leafs fan. Ironically Stevie Y was my favorite player despite being an Avs fan who loathed the Red Wings, the duality of Capps, it's a Jungian thing.Smitty-48 wrote:I loved Gentleman Joe, I loved Stevie Y, Team Canada comes second only to the Leafs, but to rebel against the Toronto Maple Leafs? Not judging, I just can't fathom what that would be like, the Leafs are like a curse, I'd like to see the Leafs win the Cup, for Leafs Nation, but my father is dead now, so even if they do win, my heart will be broken, I stand with the Blue & White till I die, but it's already too late for me, all that can be done now, is save the Leafs for future generations.

Well you see, my dad warned me of the curse, and so I took his advice and jumped ship before it was too late to do so, at the age of 8. He never blamed me and wishes he had the option, but like you, could never fathom doing so. At the time I jumped ship, the Avs were the team to jump to, and their subsequent badassery along with the rivalry with the Red Wings, that locked me in for life. That's just the way she goes, I guess.Smitty-48 wrote:Not judging, I just can't fathom what that would be like, the Leafs are like a curse, I'd like to see the Leafs win the Cup, for Leafs Nation, but my father is dead now, so even if they do win, my heart will be broken, I stand with the Blue & White till I die, but it's already too late for me, all that can be done now, is save the Leafs for future generations.
