That just doesn't feel right, the timeline doesn't seem support it. I really believe it was internet 2.0 (maybe 3.0?) that did it. Marxism was always there, but the networks could never network. Small pockets could always be dismissed and ignored. But once they could all link up in real time and get their words in front of the whole country, they created a feedback loop and they became irresistible.

because what you are describing is not specific to America, that's everywhere

I'm talking about the void which was created in the American spirit, the loss of faith in America

the two things which broke the will in America, drove the morale into an abyss

The disastrous GWOT and the kleptocratic Bail Outs

catastrophic military defeat + catastrophic financial crisis

this is the stuff that brings empires down

this has happened over & over, this is how Hegemons fall, an internal collapse from a loss of faith

the twin pillars of American power, Wall Street & The Pentagon ; are totally discredited

the American Empire is contracting, and the elites are plundering what's left of it

but what you are describing, the Information War, that is global, that's in every country

China has that problem, Europe has that problem, that feed back loop is everywhere

for example China cracking down on Hong Kong, that's them fighting the feedback loop

Brexit was another example, that was the feedback loop too

there is two big things in play

one is the onset of the Information Age causing dislocation all over the world

then there is the internal collapse of the American Empire going down at the same time

the two are interrelated, but not the same thing, and not happening for the same reasons
