Reports coming out Trump Admin put out the memo to smoke out leakers. They 'colored the water' issued the 100k National Guard memo to 10 people, but each copy was unique in a different way. A typo, one word changed, etc.

Dude, I was thinking about this last night. I thought that sort of thing was already going on. I doubt this is the first of it. You don't show your hand like that on the first run.

Speculation is still speculation even when it makes Trump look clever.
It's no good shouting fake news when you hear something you don't like but swallowing rumours when you do like the implications. That just makes you look hypocritical.

That hasn't changed. No source = trash can.

That being said, not everything with an anonymous source is fake, but because I can't trust a word from the press, I have to consider them all to be fake.

Watching Trump talking about them the other night, it occurred to me that the obvious action to take was to smoke them out, at which point I thought it probably had already begun.

I like this demanding sources to back up speculation, it has to lead to a more transparent press in the long run but it has to work both ways.
If people fall into the Trump press secretary's trap of only listening to his releases and Krusty the clown's tweets then all opposition is dead and the Govt gets away with whatever they want in the future.

Opposition to Trump is already dead. The MSM did it to themselves when they spent over a year flagrantly lying to the American people. Now Americans don't trust them at all. Because the MSM staked out the purveying of fake news as the "opposition" to Trump, most or all of legitimate opposition died out. The people who would otherwise spend their time opposing Trump in the public square with legitimate arguments and real news are instead opposing the MSM since the MSM has established themselves as the greater threat.

I don't know where you have been for the last, what is it now, two years? It's been a non stop ride of smear tactics for so long, nobody cares what they have to say anymore.

I actually broached this subject with coworkers for the first time, or rather I didn't broach it someone else did. I said I had been watching the media go full tilt negative for a year and a half and everyone just nodded in agreement.

We all know it by now I think. Well excepting the 49% that voted Clinton and are desperate to believe.

They aren't contradictory, you fucking tool. The press is untrustworthy. If they say their source is anonymous, we have to trust they aren't making shit up. At this point, we can't trust they aren't making shit up, because they've been doing it constantly. Therefor, no source, trashcan.

Claiming two men who attacked a Quebec Mosque were disgruntled gay Muslims without sources is as fake as anything the MSM has ever done.
If you want a government without opposition from the press then maybe you should try North Korea. They have a strong leader there who puts nation first.....
Plenty of the criticism is valid and some is not, that's why you have a brain, try to work out the truth yourself rather than letting Breibart do your thinking for you....

So are you implying that you are able to filter out the lies but I can't? A healthy scepticism of the press is a good thing but discounting it when it doesn't match your own bias but believing it when it does is dumb.
When your leader calls all the media liars then you are on the first step towards totalitarianism.

There is no in-between. If a media outlet feels it is okay to deliberately lie and mislead me in order to manipulate me into supporting or not supporting some political issue or leader, then I have no other resort but to lose trust in them altogether.

We are not talking about them simply getting something wrong, or making some kind of mistake. They deliberately lie and mislead people in order to subvert democracy. They absolutely represent a threat to our democracy.
