Indeed, used by American forces in the Revolution, the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, and percussion converted variants were still being employed in the Civil War.

The Brits had it all, they were kings of world. Their kit and battlefield discipline was second to none.

Masters of "doing it on the cheap"; 100 million Indians, being ruled over, by just 6000 Britons.

It was all razzle and dazzle; look like you're in charge, act like you're in charge, and you'd be amazed how many people will believe that you are indeed in charge; that was the secret; of the British Empire.

Pro tip; the failure of the Iraq War, and in fact all American interventions, is entirely due to the fact, that you Americans refuse to do things as the British did, you don't look like you're in charge, you don't act like you're in charge, you bloody well come out and just tell them; "we're not in charge"; big mistake, if you're going to be Imperialists, there's only one way to pull it off; razzle and dazzle, look like you're in charge, act like you're in charge, at all times, and they will believe that you are in fact in charge. For awhile at least, eventually they will mutiny, but if you keep up appearances, you can stave that off for literally decades.

There's only one American I can think of, who was ever really good at it; Douglas MacArthur, terrible General, but a great Imperialist.

We always go to these countries under the guise of "nation-building" and that's the problem

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
