Seems that Michael Moore got to the limelight again!

Another logic: Why repeal it, when it talks about a militia, not every citizen having the right in general?

Kazmyr wrote:This amendment would allow states and the federal government to pass laws that would regulate gun ownership in the following manner:
As over 90% of gun violence is committed by men, in order for a man to purchase a gun, he must first get a waiver from his current wife, plus his most recent ex-wife, or any woman with whom he is currently in a relationship (if he’s gay, he must get the waiver from his male spouse/partner). This law has greatly reduced most spousal/domestic gun murders in Canada.
• All automatic and semi-automatic guns are banned.
• No gun or clip can hold more than 6 bullets.
To activate a gun for it to be used, the trigger must recognize the fingerprint of its registered owner. This will eliminate most crimes committed with a gun as 80% of these crimes are done with a stolen gun.
• One’s guns must be stored at a licensed gun club or government-regulated gun storage facility. Believing that having a gun in your home provides you with protection is an American myth. People who die from a home invasion make up a sad but minuscule .04% of all gun murders in the US. And over a third of them are killed by their own gun that the criminal has either stolen or wrestled from them.
To own and operate a gun one must obtain a license (like one does to operate a car). To get a license you have to complete a gun training and safety course and pass a thorough background check.
#1 is explicitly sexist.

#3 is ridiculous -- does Moore propose that all 300 million guns in existence in US need to be retrofitted? How does the fignerprint reader work? Battery? My phone doesn't unlock all the time with a print, so this strikes me as wildly stupid.

Yeah, obviously it's up for interpretation on abortions, but it illustrated a larger point in an easily readable format so I'll take it as an imperfect example.

The same people constantly badgering us with #NotAllMuslims and talking about our overreaction to 9/11 when only some 3000 or so Americans were killed (without guns, I'd add) - are the same people who want to overhaul the constitutional protections of 316 million Americans for 6K< deaths.

The "primary right to be free of gun violence" is a pretty hilarious proposal.

How about my primary right to be free from all violence?
Because guns are icky to Moore and those of his stripe. Pie in the Sky for them: all guns would be verboten. I don't believe that the "for hunting and for sport" bit would remain.

His proposal is laughably stupid and has no basis in reality.

Some libertarians have the correct attitude: they know that looser regulations especially with arms, drugs and alcohol will have negative effects (as many people are idiots), but that's the price worth paying for the freedom of the individual.

And that 3 000 on 9/11 you mentioned. Assume if the bombers of the failed Twin Tower bombing in 1993 would have been successfull: one of the towers would have collapsed hitting the other tower. If they could have taken down the towers instantly, at worst about 40 000 to 50 000 people would have died. Had they parked the van in another place, who knows? Now these terrorist were btw. captured By the FBI, went through the justice system and serve time in the continental US.

Apparently, in just one small European nation, contraceptives kill about 20 women per year.

I know the birth control pill is really bad for women in general.

The whole firing into a crowd of country music fans thing is already illegal, so rest easy.

Oh wait . . . you're still agitating for repercussions to be brought against the people who didn't fire at a crowd of concert goers though, right?
Of course.
No, I'm agitating for a conversation about how these events could be made less deadly or even stopped from happening. Turns out that conversation can't take place because of freedoms and rights. Sad.
Sounds familiar. Just listen to Ariana Grande on the radio.
