I don't think commenting on stories in the media is an impeachable offense. At worst, it shows a lack of discipline and the Donald needs to get a handle on that for sure.

I don't really think you can reach them by showing their contradictions. They are almost strictly emotionally-driven people. If you want to reach the people who support the democratic party by this date in time, you have to use emotion. They can't be swayed by logic, evidence of contradiction, etc. It's just not in many of their intellectual faculties. They aren't impressed by it. They don't care about it. There is a damn good chance that some intelligence was being gathered on Trump, but it was probably legal, which means there was at least reason enough to believe he might have some shady and compromising business dealings or connections with foreign agents or whatever the hell else the all-seeing-eye looks for.

Now, he may or may not, but he has already spent the capitol of Americans not particularly liking gub'ment spooks spying on citizens, but to get deeper into the evidence that he was bugged must mean also showing what the FISA folks thought he might have been doing, which is pretty bad optics even if he wasn't doing anything... especially in this new topsy-turvey world of non-overlapping media magisterium.

After it was announced by 17 intelligence services that Russia was behind the hackings, this should have been obvious to people that perhaps the service in charge of counterespionage won't leave it there. And now we have officially heard that. So no goddam reason for Obama to get involved with something that isn't his thing to get involved with.

I think should be evident that these tweets, the so-called 4-D chess here some think is working so well to him isn't in the long term, even if it causes a distraction for a week or so. That's the only logical reason... This should be obvious from the Judge Napolitano-GCHQ incident, which even Fox didn't support ...and likely ditched the commentator, as he wasn't anymore commenting the Gorsuch hearings for Fox.

Just for fun, let's imagine the FBI has been seriously sucking up intel. from Trump tower, but it was completely non-partisan, and they didn't find anything.

What is the chance Drudge, Breitbart, The Atlantic and WaPo all agree that this is what happened?

Or do we get a Breitbart blog post about how the partisan FBI tried to sink Trump at the same time The Atlantic gives us an op ed about how there is no smoke without fire, and even though they didn't find anything, Trump should still probably just be impeached.
