Mechanically and chemically reclaimed meat. What they do here in the big turkey factories is take off what meat you can from the bones then throw them all in a big vat with giblets, fat, offal etc plus a load of chemicals. The chems disolve it into a slurry which is then mixed in with the burger meat and other processed foods.Penner wrote:So, meat slurry= mystery meat?Montegriffo wrote:Original spam is pork, ham, potato starch, sugar and preservatives.Penner wrote:
Do you know what SPAM is really made out of? Is it really just canned ham or is it more or less really a "mystery" meat?
Pork is a vague term for meat slurry.
Spam is pork slurry set with gelatin. Very high in fat and salt but a long lasting product. Originally made for soldiers in WWII.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The really cool part is that American fast food joints are allowed to call that "100% beef".Montegriffo wrote:Mechanically and chemically reclaimed meat. Yeah, I have come to realize that all this processed food should become a hard pass if you don't want to look like shit. Once you go cold turkey, fat starts going away without much fuss and you build muscle faster. Mostly veggies. Plenty of lean meats. Presto.

Well it does all come from cattle, just not the bits you would necessarily call beef or even meat.GrumpyCatFace wrote:The really cool part is that American fast food joints are allowed to call that "100% beef".Montegriffo wrote:Mechanically and chemically reclaimed meat. Those black bean burgers are actually pretty good. Not as an actual hamburger, though. Just cook it separately and eat it by itself.
