The impression we had before the election was that the wall was figurative. I don't really care about impressions anymore.Smitty-48 wrote:The impression I get, is that Trump is going to pay for the wall with things like remitance taxes on outflows to Mexico, charging more for visas, binational lane toll crossings to enter the US, etc, hence, the Mexicans pay for the wall after the fact, with no tariffs required, it will all be through service charges over the border. Might take awhile, but over time, they will have paid for it.

Nah, bear in mind, the Israeli Likud are the Original Alt-Right, the Trump Wall is just a version of Isreal's wall around the West Bank.

I don't think you're stupid. I think you've turned off the part of your brain that handles reason. It'll fire back up eventually.Kath wrote:You really think I'm stupid? Wow.... okay. Didn't W. tried to build a wall and failed to keep out the illegal immigrants? I am surprised that no one has pointed it out, yet.Kath wrote:As soon as he announces how high the wall will be, ladder manufacturer will start sending ladders to Mexico that are 3 feet higher. And, don't forget shovel makers... they will also continue to sell in Mexico.
It's just another expensive "feelzgood." Note that the people living on the border don't want the wall.
Not Many People On The Border Really Want Donald Trump’s Wall
The union made no mention of it in their endorsement announcement, but Border Patrol agents along the Rio Grande Valley largely view it as waste of time and money that wouldn’t actually solve any of their security problems.

I'm not so sure about that. It was his #1 campaign promise. No one thought he'd actually win, if that is what you're referring to.

That wall was just for Crawford. He kept Cindy Sheehan out, IIRC.

Over 345 page of posts on, around, and about President Orangehair. Cool. It's nice to see former DCF members lose their collective mind.
To the Trump supporters/haters, we all knew he was gonna be a demented man-child. So what's with the surprise? That's why he was elected. With respect to Old Hickory, he does kinda remind me of a demented rich Andrew Jackson albeit without the brains. I'm just waiting for the ethnic cleansing of something group to start.
As to illegal immigration, the entire fucking elite establishment of both parties are in favor of it. It good for union busting and it drives down wages as well as the oppressed in, which to be fair, are oppressed because of the United States government helping, if not outright creating. Any senior party member who says otherwise is a tool or a liar.
Yes using social security numbers, and government going after the businesses who hired them would reduce immigration, but those businesses have lobbyists, and give generously to the political establishment. It's rather like Big Finance. Those in charge get the bonuses, everyone else gets screwed, or arrested, or fired, or deported.

Why'd you bring it up? Does it bother you that president temper tantrum is less gentlemanly with his wife than Obama is with his? It doesn't bother me; I'm sure Melania feels very well taken care of.Okeefenokee wrote:
