Type A is monopolized by Americans. That's the problem. Type A is the precursor to what went epidemic in Wuhan (type B). You would expect to find the ancestral mutation in the place where this first went epidemic (even if we didn't notice it at the time). We see type A predominantly in the United States and in Americans that were tested in China.

The data set is sparse, however, so there's no telling if that will hold as more data gets included. Right now, however, there is absolutely no evidence to prove that the pandemic began in Wuhan.

If I were to guess on a probable origin inside of China, I would guess Yunnan, since that is where the original bat virus is found.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
