Not really, it depends on the state, but many US states actually have as many if not more checks, the Canadian system of checks is actually a joke, just a money grab/make work, and I wouldn't say that RCMP CPIC is as comprehensive and reliable as the FBI, not at all, the RCMP is a mickey mouse outfit compared to the FBI and the Americans retain far more data than the Canadian police do.

It's like, I have mates who are into this Three Gun Tournament thing, long gun, shotgun, handgun competition, and what they have is metal rods which are inserted into their shotgun cylinders to make it Canadian legal, when they cross the border they take them out, and they pick up their American magazines over the border as well.

Well, the criminal of course ignores the prohibition on carry, every gangster I grew up with was packing his pistol all the time, whatever, going to jail was not a deterrent over and above being shot by the competition, and the lunatic who is looking to fly under the radar, can simply put the gun in the trunk of the car, and when he gets to his ex girfriends house or whoever it is he is going to blow away, he goes around to the back of the car and takes the gun out of the trunk, see how that works?

It's like right in my area here, just down the road last year, two neighbors got into a dispute, and one of them came around to the other's house and shot him dead, with a handgun, and after he said; "I don't know why I did that, I just snapped".

That was all of course, illegal, violated about a dozen Canadian Firearms Act restrictions, plus the Homicide charge on top, and the neighbor who shot his neighbor dead, is going to the penitentiary, but the neighbor who was shot, is of course dead.

Oh, and it wasn't a junkie, it wasn't a gang member, it wasn't a criminal at all, the guy who shot his neighbor dead had no criminal record, was not known to police, and was actually a rather regular guy with a wife and kids and a mortgage and the whole shebang.

Most of our homicides are blacks killing other blacks. But the homicides from home invasions, I think, might be correlated to illegal migrants if the invasions weren't specific to that person (like a gun dealer or something like that). If you have something that organized gangs want very badly (especially a lot of guns), then you are definitely a target.
