Not me sgt maj. Far too much respect for the history of the regimental silver. Every regiment that came to my training camps brought theirs with them and I was fascinated by it.

I was on colour party once and a peacenik protestor tried to charge through us to snatch the Colours, knowing not what he was doing no doubt, I actually had bayonet fixed, but went with the less lethal butt stroke at the last moment instead. Worst thing about the brass plaques is that a lot of the names are not recorded anywhere else in the villages so the local history is lost to them. apart from at the war office or wherever it's written down.
