Justin Trudeau promised to spend more, that money just doesn't kick in for another twenty years, but in theory, we're spending more, on the books, there is a spending increase, sometime in the future, maybe, as there's a lot that can happen in twenty years, starting with Trump being long gone by then.

Germany said "aim to increase defense expenditure as real GDP grows" and "aim towards moving to the 2% guideline within a decade", so Germany is "aiming" for something, something, something, maybe a decade from now. They pulled a Trudeau too.

France claimed to be on a "trajectory to 2%", but they didn't specify when, they didn't even say a decade, but they did say they are commiting to cutting the national debt to 3% GDP as requested by the European Union, and somehow I have the sneaking suspicion that the EU is going to trump Trump when it comes to which guidline France tries to meet, mind you, having a military industrial complex of their own which competes directly with the USA for defense contracts, not actually in America's interests for France to spend more, since that actually would be spent on trying to take contracts from Americans, they're not really after the Russians, the real military adversary for France, is America, that's who they really fight, and the battlefield is entirely for defense pork.
