Pretty sure the Ukrainian troops have better arms.
Nah, it's all AK-74's, on both sides, the whole Warsaw Pact went to 5.45mm back in the 80's, it's rare to even see an AKM these days.

The contemporary Russian AK rifles are 5.45x39mm, the PKM machine guns are 7.62x54mm, 7.62x39mm isn't even issued anymore.

More Russian x39 for us. I swear I bought a crate of that for $200 dollars once. They manufactured enough of it to kill every human a thousand times over. x54r is still being used. Jesus. I knew some druganovs and finlanders used it in sniper rifles but it's issue for lmg now? Is it r or nah? Either way that's impressive as fuck. Round has been around going on 12 decades or more.

7.62x54mmR is just their version of 7.62x51mm, the PKM is their version of the MAG 58 (M240) so; 7.62x54mmR belt fed, and they still use the Dragonov's as DMR's at the squad level, which is 7.62x54mmR box fed, but they don't use anything anymore which takes 7.62x39mm, that's all been replaced by 5.45x39mm now.

There's a new sheriff in town; .338 Norma Magnum, GPMG with .50 cal like suppression out to 2000m+, but only weighs 23 lbs, lighter than an M240

My dad has a .308 Norma Magnum deer rifle. 180 grain bullet exiting the muzzle at like 3800 fps with 5000 ft lbs. Blows big holes in things
