Michael Hutchison gets a shutout, 3-0

Leafs are 15-4-1 under Sheldon Keefe.
Bugger, was watching Atomic Blonde and missed it.
You didn't miss much, it was a boring game.

None the less the Leafs played with structure and limited scoring chances against, so a good game from that pov

Hutchison was serviceable, seems to be finding his game, that was his third win in a row (DET, NJD, NYI)

Well, Atomic Blonde was good. I can see why you liked it, especially all the late 80s music. The French spy was hot.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Indeed, 1989 was a watershed year and I was right in the middle of it all, that's my Cold War era.

I enjoyed the recreation of my present then as a historical narrative in the now.

Did you ever get a chance to visit West Berlin?
I never did, it was the height of cool back in the new wave days.

I visited West Berlin with my father, as a teenager, before I joined the army

When I was in the army, I just wanted to go to Spain and/or Italy to party

After my parents got divorced, my father took me on trips, father - son bonding

Usually to America, but we also went to the UK and we did a European continental tour.

What was it like then?
We travelled all over West Germany when I lived there '72 - '75 but never went to Berlin.
'72 was the Munich Olympic year and I remember the street protests against Black September and Baader-Meinhoff. My parents didn't want to go to Berlin at that time with two young children.

It was a whistle stop tour, we were only there for a couple days, so I only have vague memories.

In terms of the zeitgeist, it was like the Wall and Checkpoint Charlie had been there forever.

Which is what made it so exciting when it suddenly collapsed shortly after, as if it had never been there.

The actual Trace on the Inner German Border was more impressive than the Wall in Berlin

The Berlin Wall by this point had become symbolic, whereas the Inner German Border was operational

On the Trace, you've got the Cobra attack helicopters flying patrols and whatnot.

On the Trace, that's where you felt like you were in a war.

In Berlin, it had practically become a tourist attraction.

Not much to see in Berlin, a wall with graffiti on it, no real action taking place.

In terms of the soundtrack, those certainly were the songs on my Sony Walkman and at the dance clubs

We had another soundtrack in the army tho, hard rock and heavy metal, AC/DC, Motorhead, Iron Maiden etc

The boom box strapped to the armored personnel carrier was always the rock opera, no dance music.
