I know I remained neutral till it hit non-Olympic threads that I was participating in. When Capps made it clear that the whole forum was fair game, and that no one could converse about anything, I came down firmly on the side of "fuck that".

Eh . .. Smitty is like most of the regulars around here, right? Mixed bag but a net plus. His good content is extremely good. Then you got the NHL bullshit. But I think most of us agree that he's definitely a net gain for the forum, right?
Same for me. I'm aware a lot of my posts aren't loved - but I have my days, right? If I wasn't a net gain y'all would be telling me to GTFO on the daily.
StA has his insights - and then he has all his angry at women shit. But a net gain overall.
ND has incredible zingers - and then all his racist shit. Also a net gain, overall.

The Dr. Y's and De O's who generally only post good stuff, and refuse to show their dark side, are rarities in this game.

But at the end of the day, for all our foibles and flaws, it's the good content we crank out that keeps this place worth checking on, right? So you don't want to heave one of your big contributors overboard because of some week-long spat.

I don't believe he's a net plus right now, at all. He doesn't debate honestly and he goes way over the top when he's puffing out his chest, trying to pretend he's the Alpha of the Alphas. I guess he doesn't know that the leader of leaders doesn't have to announce it so loudly or frequently and doesn't need to be a douche to make a point.
