Also, evidently the ransomware only effected the business operations side, not any systems responsible for running the pumps. Maybe they had no backups in place, or only had on-site backups. Regardless, an organization of this size should have someone in their IT department that knows to keep off-site backups. Then you just wipe the effected systems, restore from backup, and boom, you're done. You're down a day at the most. However, the hacker group issued an unusual apology for the attack later the same day, saying it would "introduce moderation" to "avoid social consequences in the future" and insisted that it was entirely profit-driven and "apolitical", in a statement posted to the dark web.
"We are apolitical, we do not participate in geopolitics, [you] do not need to tie us with a defined government and look for ... our motives," the group seemingly wrote, as reported by BBC News.
"Our goal is to make money, and not creating problems for society. From today we introduce moderation and check each company that our partners want to encrypt to avoid social consequences in the future," it reportedly said.

Re: BREAKING NEWS
Look at the two major energy shortages we've had in the Biden Admin.
1st the independant Texas energy Grid, now the Colonial pipeline. Both affecting states and people that rejected Biden at the ballot box. This is just the kind of petty commie move to punish your political enemies. The Texas grid issue was created by beauacracy. A board of supervisors that looked like any Ivy League oligarch gathering, and a Department of Energy that drug it's feet on allow Texas to fire up it's backup energy generators.
Now Colonial.

Re: BREAKING NEWS
Food availability isn't going to be critical in the US, if you can afford it. However, we already have some small famines going on in the world no one is talking about, and we ill likely have more. The repercussions of the floods in China last year, and crop losses in the the American midwest are being felt. Corn is up 150% in the last year. China is buying all the Corn, Wheat and Soy Beans they can get there hands on, many countries are freezing exports to secure food for their countries. The Trifecta of Death is hitting us. We've had war and pandemics, Famine will follow. But it's going to be limited to regions of the world with poor production and high transport costs. Stock the pantry now, food is just going to get more, and more, and more expensive.Xenophon wrote: Tue May 11, 2021 9:08 amWe'll see if they can effect food availability.C-Mag wrote: Tue May 11, 2021 8:52 am Look at the two major energy shortages we've had in the Biden Admin.

Americans spend 9% of their budget on food, traditionally it's 40%. In a few years, we could be paying that again. Plan accordingly.
