NG is hella gay too. Riker is cool, though.

Riker had all kinds of potential, but the writers made him a putz....... they gave better story lines to Troi and Wesley.

They never gave better stories to Tori and Wesley was actually hated by Trekkies everywhere. To be fair they did do the long WIll They/Won't They with Riker and Tori but they never made anything official until the movies.

Wesley was a mostly terrible character. You can make a kid genius level smart without making him smarter than all the adults combined. He had a couple of good episodes, when they let him be a teenage boy, but that was about it. Lame.

Wesley was annoying as hell to watch, especially in the early seasons but then the writers wrote him off as going on a universal trip with some alien and I was, "wow they couldn't even handle his departure". In my opinion, the best Wesley episode was the one where him and his friends from Starfleet Academy, get court-marshaled.
