It's illegal to not wear a seatbelt, yet when someone dies because they don't wear their seatbelt, do we then make it so the cars won't start without someone clicking the seatbelt shut?

Then what happens if someone does that, then just latches it to the seat?

Do we make it so that it won't start unless a part of the seatbelt is extended? Or weight restrictions have to be met? Or both?

See what we are doing here? The more restrictions, the less freedom... the more restrictions the more money it's going to cost to enforce them, and in turn, the cost of cars become outrageous.

There is going to be a point of time where we say "Fuck it, let Darwinism take affect" and we should to... we have become a country of babies because we are afraid to get hurt this day and age. We either learn from our mistakes or not...

You might want more dangerous cars; sort of an own goal in the fight against tyranny, but cool.

Still, you can't really accuse people of being hypocrites for not worrying about car and highway safety when they worry about gun safety.

If you mean a deathtrap such as a 1986 Chevy Blazer S10 which has a steel frame, weighs in 1.5 tons and gets only 2 MPG less than today's trucks... in where I have had an 18 wheeler back into one and I was able to drive away in it, then yeah, I'll take that deathtrap.

Especially since over 1/2 of the cars in the US are recalled because Air-Bags were overpressurized and would have killed someone. Or where the breaks failed because of electronics, etc...

I've gotten into a head-on collision while being in one, the person that hit me went to the hospital, I went to work.

If they actually wanted to save lives, they would attack fast food, candy, lifestyle choices, you know . . . things that lead to heart disease and stroke.
But the odds of a bunch of fatty, internet shut-in, keyboard warriors agitating for shit that affects their own lives is precisely zero.
They don't want to feel the pain.
They want you to feel the pain.

So they play this game of "We're just trying to save lives" - and when you puncture that bubble they get hella mad.
Just like they try to puppeteer black people in order to attack white people under the veneer of "Black lives matter", but they steadfastly refuse to acknowledge that the African American community has an extraordinary homicide problem amongst themselves.
Those black lives don't matter.
Only the black lives that can be used to attack whites matter.

I just don't understand why people bring up automobile fatalities when it comes to gun regulation, unless they are recommending a federal regulatory and licensing apparatus with reach into every state's gun laws.

Heaven forbid one should lose one's freedom to carry an arsenal of weapons upto ones hotel room to fire into a crowd of country music fans.

1. Killing/shootings will happen every once in a while no matter what because we are humans.

2. What the real goal is to reduce the frequency of these horrible events.

3. Look at the history of mass shootings and the frequency over the years, yes it has been speeding up in terms of frequency.

4. Guns don't make the frequency speed up but what does? What correlates with the increase in frequency?

5. Anti Depression and Anti Anxiety meds have had a sharp increase in written prescriptions during the time we are experiencing a greater frequency with these horrible mass shootings.

So take your (rightfully so) outrage out on the Pharma industry and Doctors. Otherwise STFU!

Ergo, he's not interested in any conversations about *NOT* more gun control, and he's only seeking a yes/no on whether or not regulations *can* improve safety.
