If tariffs are so bad, then shouldn't your cartoon also show an image of China on the ground next to him since they have effectively tariffed and limited US imports for years now?

Weird how it's only bad when we do it. Reminds me of Mexico's immigration policy..
We all buy cheap imports on this forum, don't we? Esp. the poor. What makes you so certain that quality of life will improve with more expensive stuff by functionally having less purchasing power?

Like all special interests policies, will a small group will win, and the remainder lose?

But we have no need to speculate now. We might get a chance to see how Americans like tariffs on cheaply produced foreign goods. My guess is, not very much.

That's not an answer to the question. You posted this silly graphic as some kind of gotcha against people who want to impost tariffs to protect the American economy and American workers, but you failed to address the fact that China does exactly that all the time. If it's so destructive, then why don't you criticize China for doing it?

It seems to me that ridiculous attempts as that meme represents stem from ideological thinking entirely divorced from reality.

So I hear Trump said today that he can't do Tax reform until Congress repeals Obamacare and that issue is dealt with.

So, Congress, it's in your hands.

Trump needs to offer a replacement to Obamacare in detail. Write the bill himself and submit it. The worst possible course of action would be to repeal the Affordable Care Act with no immediate replacement.

Doesn't Rand Paul have a plan ready to go or in the works ?

@ Doc, yeah, Trump is going to have to lead this himself, the Establishment GOP leadership will be no help. My guess is his plan is to point the finger at Congress and tell them to do their job, put the ball in their court publically. This gives Trump time to have a plan to do it himself if Congress fails. Then he can go directly to the public with his plan.

@ND
Yes, surely McCain, McConnel, Issa and Ryan will be burning the midnight oil to help a GOP President fulfill his campaign promises.
He will be getting public support from Boehner and the Bush Clan too.

Why is that a question I anyone needs to answer? I don't like 1000 things about China, if we do those things too and I don't like it, do I have to explain why China does it?

China sends us actual stuff, we send them little pieces of green paper in return. It is really a tribute system, and it has vastly increased the purchasing power of every US consumer.

Tariffs make all consumers in a country poorer, and make certain producers richer. Does this proposition stem from ideological thinking entirely divorced from reality? I was not aware that it was even controversial.

You posted a silly meme that indicated imposing tariffs is somehow self-destructive. It even mocks people with the comment, "take that China!". But what has been proposed is only what China already does to US exports. If it's so silly and destructive, then wouldn't China be suffering for it? But they obviously don't. They have been taking advantage of us for decades.

Just stop it already. This stuff is suicidal.

You allege that China isn't suffering from tariffs (the "unseen"), so tariffs will not be destructive to US.

Is that a charitable recitation of your point? I F not please correct me
