Fine, there's always someone ready to volunteer. Someone who wants to take advantage of the opportunity to learn a trade, get free college, get away from a life they hate, or even out of a sense of duty to their country.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 9:48 amSomebody has to volunteer Monty. Else you are going to be conquered. This is not an argument. You are being a child.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 8:49 amIf you volunteer of your own accord to take a job which involves getting shot at it's no good bitching that people are shooting at you. No one made you do it.
Now, if you were forced to take that job against your will that would be something worth bitching about.
At some point, you need to take responsibility for your votes. Your electorate has sent the British military to nonstop war for 19 years and counting. They obviously don't give a shit.
But if nobody volunteered, you'd be overrun in a heartbeat. Then you would give a shit when you have foreign boots on your throats. Maybe you can protest march against them..
But if you volunteer, knowing that you may be sent to fight in the ''forever wars'' that you hate so much you don't get to question your deployment. You knowingly sign away your right to object to orders.
You especially don't get to insist that anyone is sent to fight in those wars against their will. That isn't even a good way to build a fighting force.
Nor do you get to take away the votes of those who don't wish to take part in the forever wars.
If you want to change the decisions your government makes about fighting overseas then use the systems available. Convince others to use their vote to stop the wars.
If you start taking people's votes away your wars will get a lot closer to home.
No taxation without representation - remember?
Unless you want to go all ''muh roads'' and give up your vote in exchange for no more taxes. You can call it the Somalia option.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
