Cane corso is a great breed, but you need to really know big working breeds. Foster for a while to find out if that is for you. Also, if this dog has a rough past, let somebody with experience adopt him.

It depends on what kind of pittie . A relative has a small female with the personality of a lab. I would love a dog like that. A lot of them are athletic dogs, built for play with matching personalities. People confuse Staffies, etc with the small pittie.DBTrek wrote:The pit bulls usually seem to kill kids and the elderly. Still, when your breed is responsible for 92% of the dog inflicted fatalities I’m not hearing any noise about how you’re so “misunderstood“ and “demonized”.
Nope.

I would be cautious, VERY cautious, about where I picked up a pit pup. If the breeders in Bumphukt TN are liable to be asswipes, I can only imagine what kind of dogs are being bred in the yankee enclaves.

Your dad instincts might be in overdrive here. I used to be like that too. No fucking way I'd let a pit bull near my kids. But then I realized all these little dogs I have liked were the dreaded pit bull.
There is no breed standard. It totally depends upon breeding and whether yoilu get them at 8 weeks to socialize them.

Oh I agree; my point is to be cautious about what kind of breeder one might buy a pup from. It's the humans I'm more worried about. There are some insane fuckers around breeding and selling pups, of all kinds. But especially pits, from my experience.Speaker to Animals wrote:Your dad instincts might be in overdrive here. Never had a puppy. All our dogs were adult rescues and mostly mutts.

Who was it that said something about pups being some kind of eternal return in dealing with our mortality? And of a different type from our own children? I know I read that, but it may be so obscure that it is totally unknown (or maybe I just dreamed about it). Anyway, you get the sentiment.MilSpecs wrote:Never had a puppy. I've never heard that and you need to explain it to me. I'm not thinking well today.Fife wrote:Who was it that said something about pups being some kind of eternal return in dealing with our mortality? And of a different type from our own children?
