You are right, there is no precident for inviting the POTUS to a royal wedding. The reason usually given is the added security costs of one attending. Usually there is an invitation for a State visit shortly after though to ensure that no snub is perceived, on this occassion it seems very unlikely that this will happen. Trump appears to be trying to undermine the ''special'' relationship between the two countries with his re-tweets and direct attack on the PM. There is no Thatcher/Reagan chemistry here, Trump is actively attacking a Conservative government just to appeal to his base. A RINO indeed. /shrug.
