Err.. fact is left socialism is much older than right socialism. I mean.. "libertarianism" as Martin uses it began with Ayn Rand. Libertarian socialism goes back at least to the 1890s as far as I know. He's ass backwards on this one.

You mean socialism like Anarcho-syndicalism?Speaker to Animals wrote:Err.. fact is left socialism is much older than right socialism. I mean.. "libertarianism" as Martin uses it began with Ayn Rand. Libertarian socialism.
It's much older than right libertarianism.
You guys could just enter the term into a search engine and learn about it for yourselves instead of talking out of your asses.

Dude, you're the person the trap is intended for: a goddamn literalist. Every time I see you exhibit some kind of extreme insight, I always think "autistic savant," because most of the time you wear your ass as a hat.
p.s. Oscar Wilde? Jesus Christ, man, he's a patron saint of linguistic subterfuge.

Re: Libertarian Socialism?
It's a matter of historic fact. If you want to concoct your own fake reality, go right ahead. Don't lash out at me for refusing to participate in the delusion.
I prefer to at least attempt to operate within the framework of historical facts. Libertarian socialism literally was "libertarianism" for generations before people on the right invented their own brand, probably in your own lifetime. Just because that allegedly right wing version now predominates in America does not somehow erase the historical record.

Dude, if you want to recite historical trivia describing how Noam fashions his attack, fine, say that, but you contradicted the OP. The reason you're going to need to run off and grow food by yourself in a hidden valley, defending yourself with a gun, is because you don't know how to defend yourself from words.Speaker to Animals wrote:It's a matter of historic fact. Dude, Noam Chomsky didn't invent this stuff.
I just cited a book by Oscar Wilde from the 1890s about libertarian socialism. Get a grip.
Libertarian socialism is old school.

Uh.. yeah..
I just participated in the thread and talked about the historical facts. That upsets you. I get it.
Reality sucks when it contradicts your narrative. But it does contradict your narrative here.
I think political philosophy is an interesting topic. I like to discuss it. I happen to share many of your opinions of socialism. But I prefer to understand the thing I criticize.
Maybe try to understand socialism as they view it. Also consider sticking with historical facts even if they don't allow you to pigeon hole your opponent's ideologies into neat little boxes so you can straw man their arguments.
