Istrian town of Bale has already 13 years ago come up with the project "Parcel For One Kuna" in order to keep young families and attract more newcomers.

The already mentioned town has now successfully started their project of gifting land to young people from the area in order for them to continue living there. On the other hand it is a great way of motivating the arrival of newcomers, who with their families can more easily take care of their housing question.

The project "Parcel For One Kuna" was started by the company Mon Peris, behing which stands Plinio Cuccurin.

The town of Bale is successfully developing. From a ghost town it became an attractive summer resort and a cultural center of Istria. The most important aspect of all that is its demographic recovery.

The town of Bale, in the area of Grota, secured over one hundred parcels for the building of family houses. The parcels are usually from 250 to 600 square meters and on them people can build 3 story high houses which cover 100 square meters. "The contract also says that the houses can be rented and used as a business", said the mayor of Bale Edi Pastrovicchio.

3 young families have already moved into their new houses and another 15 are on the way.

Look, it's a small country with limited land available. If people could just build wherever they wanted just because they have enough money to buy some land it would spoil the countryside. What is so hard to understand about that?

There exits a large distinction between sublotting the land into a neighborhood and allowing farmers to build farmhouses on their farmland..

I already explained that if you have 13 acres you can apply for smallholding status to get residential permission on your land. If everyone who bought an acre of farmland was allowed to build on it large areas of agricultural land would disappear under houses.
Ancient laws allow for staying on your land for up to 28 days per year so that you can bring in the harvest, this was designed for itinerary seasonal workers (often gypsy travellers) but can also be used for letting out your land for camping in the summer months.
Not all restrictive laws are brought in by ''the man'' to oppress the population, some are there to protect the environment and the countryside for future generations.
