What is the point of giving them statehood though? I'm all for cutting them loose entirely, should have been done a long time ago. I don't see what value they add to our country atm. We couldn't get Cuba so we settled with PR for a base. That's really the only reason why this is even a discussion.

I've done OK on real estate.
Prices in PR have been dropping for awhile, and if this goes through and there's a cash infusion + greater security + the rest of what statehood would offer, it's not like the U.S. has a ton of tropical paradises as competition.
