Take Braveheart for example. There is so much wrong with it. The cringe factor is unbearable.

That makes it a crap historical movie, does not take away the craft that went into it.
That is my point. To me a crap historical movie lost it's appeal once I realized how much crap it was.
Why isn't Excalibur crap?

Not a historical epic but I watched Memories of Murder. Pretty good South Korean movie but it was a little weird.

War of the Arrows

No idea if some of the trick shots shown in the movie are even possible.

A millennial I was working with back in 2005 was going to see the "new" King Kong movie. I said I wondered if they were going to kill him in the end like the original... She said "what do you mean the original?". Uhhh... 1933, Fay Wray?

She'd never heard of it, or the Kong vs Godzilla movies, or the 70s remake... I mean, classic stuff. Sigh. She thought it was a totally "new" thing.

War of the arrow looks bad ass. At fist thought it was going to be about the Khan's.

Recently saw the 50s movie of ben-hur. I thought it was entertaining. Anyone see the remake?

I watched those on satellite TV as a youngin. My dad insisted they were cool, I just wanted to get back to Thunder Cats.

Yeah I just rented it. I think I like the original better.

The trailer I posted makes it seem almost like a kung fu movie but it's actually got a lot of story arch and character development for an action movie. I found it a nuanced view into feudal Korea.

Some classics (I don't want to know how unrealistic they are)

Also, Braveheart is an awesome movie. Don't try to learn history from a movie.
