I am not sure about all, but the vast majority of women do this all the time. I think it's just in their nature and most have no idea they are doing it. I don't think even Newman realized she was doing it when she did it. She just heard what she wanted to hear and tried to recast that as what he actually said. You do it all the time and, even here, you seem oblivious to it.
I am sure there are weird quirks that are common among men as well. This is just something all of us men have to deal with (often). This Newman-Peterson interview only exploded because I think it's gotten out of control lately in the media and a lot of men are sick of this shit -- and Peterson just waltzed in like a hero and crushed it.
