TPP is DEAD.

Strange how we saw years and years of hand-wringing with this thing still on the table year after year, and yet it gets killed days into a Trump presidency.. hmm..

It is his responsibility, just like it's her's if he's being an asshole.

This right here means the Presidency is a success

Who here two years ago ever thought TPP would be killed?

There was only one improbable path that I can think of for it to happen, and it required president Trump. I doubt even Sanders would have done this.

This is getting to be a bit much. I'm already feeling like I've had enough winning for a while.

This seems large...

Anyone else want to pitch in on short term and long term implications?

How long until the impact of this is felt... and what will the impact be?

I'm going to be honest with you all... I haven't got a clue on what the implications are.

America puts together bilateral agreements with TPP countries instead, or Trump pushes through his own TPP and says it's okay this time because he says so, or Trump actually gets a better TPP. Only three ways it can really go, protectionism isn't really on table, it's merely a bluff.

That's the thing right there right thur, he needs to get the free trade done, but one by one is going to take forever, the inherent pressure to get a deal done and get those Asian countries to lower their barriers, and to box China out before China fills the vacuum, will mount as he goes, at which point, the only way to go could very plausibly be a de facto TPP that is "NOT TPP!"

A Trump Pacific Partnership seems a likely scenario indeed.

The most likely of the three scenarios by my estimation.

They just don't have the time to negotiate eleven seperate bilateral agreements, that could become his Obamacare moment, where he blows the majority fiddling around in a quagmire, and then loses the conch to the Democrats before he can effect the rest of his agenda.

He's really only got 24 months here, to put some serious points up on the board, clock is tickin'
