The Proud Boys / Antifa stuff is basically internal conflict within the population of gays. Proud Boys are a lot of dudes who are likely bisexual or gay in inclination trying to overcompensate. Antifa are a bunch of dudes with gender dysphoria also trying to overcompensate.

I know the under-40 crowd are not impressed by achievement, and think anyone could do it with the same amount of White Male Privilege, but that's definitely not what my generation thought. What about you guys 40 to 60, where do you fall on the impressed-by-accomplishments scale? SJWs may have a larger base to grow from than I first imagined.

Impressed with real accomplishments. Academic ones, sometimes. So I’d say your software dev career and Wired interview are impressive. An MD is no small task, that’s impressive. I’m ”meh” on the lawyer stuff. That never struck me as beyond the average person’s grasp, so it’s a laudable accomplishment but not an impressive one.

Think Thomas Sowell (your favorite economist). There have to be tens of thousands of economic PhDs out there. I’d say, given his body of quality work, Sowell is impressive. The other countless, nameless, unknown economics PhDs out there? Meh - who cares.

Do something to impress. Something more impressive than checking off all the boxes at some institution’s degree audit.

I think we've already determined that most Under-40s are NOT impressed. Hell, you could have done it too given the time/inclination/money/luck. I understand that. You're wrong, of course, the odds of doing what I've done is 1 in 4 billion, but logic doesn't play into this. I meet people from the Baby Boom generation all the time, they're fuckin' impressed. I'm royalty. Envied and despised but not one person ever dismisses my accomplishments like an Under-40 does. It's the 40 to 60s I wonder about: what do they think?

p.s. This is coming from my interaction with young techies. Is it all Tech, or just Under-40s.
