You're corrected - put tariffs up to protect domestic industry from PRC slave encampment so more domestic jobs are created, which allows for reduction in US nanny state since the proles would have the ability to feed themselves.

Re: Socialism
I mean.. do you really think we cannot see how the rise of the welfare state was directly correlated to these batshit stupid "free trade" policies starting in the late 1990s?
Remember when these Mammon worshipers told us "free trade" would make more American jobs?? I do. Now they are penning articles to the effect that white working class communities need to just die.
They should count their blessings people have not yet broken out the tar and feathers.

Re: Socialism
Fife - libertarinism opposes slavery as it denies liberty - by encouraging free trade with PRC (who essentially is proped up by slave labor) you are encouraging the denial of liberty to Asian proles.
So really - you're not following libertarian ideology.

Re: Socialism
As I’ve pointed out before, tariffs don’t really do that. They give a short term boost, but raise domestic prices. Along with a host of other negative effects.

Re: Socialism
And people have repeatedly explained to you why that is wrong. Prices go up because the supply curve drops.
Either capitalism works or it does not. You cannot have it both ways, arguing the "free market" will work itself out to efficient pricing when it suits you, and then when that does not suit you, you argue that the supply and demand forces will not arrive at the efficient price. Lolbergs need to get their story straight.
Stop "educating" people about macroeconomics when you never even sat in a macroeconomics class for a single hour.

The prices go up, and demand drops. There are actually TWO sides to that equation, professor.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 10:15 amAnd people have repeatedly explained to you why that is wrong. Prices go up because the supply curve drops.

Tariffs are not part of a Free Market.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The demand curve is not affected. The supply curve shifts and intersects at a higher efficient price.

Yeah dudes. We just raise the prices, and demand stays the same. Win win win!!Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 12:02 pmYou have no idea what you are talking about. The demand curve is not affected. The supply curve shifts and intersects at a higher efficient price.
