That's the Cold War grand daddy version of not telegraphing, sure.

You, Condoleeza Rice, Hillary Clinton, and Caspar Weinberger got that geriatric playbook down cold.

If only you still had a USSR to fight, that shit would be mondo relevant.

War on the Korean Peninsula puts you back into the Cold War by default, the Pentagon is not going to assume that the Chinese and Russians are going to just stand idly by, war on the Korean Peninsula would be at DEFCON Three by default, it would be way bigger than war in the Persian Gulf, the Pentagon would have to be ready for escalation, they're not going into the Korean Peninsula, light and breezy, if they are going to risk inciting a Korean War 2.0, they would be going in heavy, just in case.

Who said War with Korea? Man, you've got to exercise that imagination a little bit. We're non-interventionist. We just park the ships by Korea and bat his little missiles out of the sky. What's he going to do, march the People's Army ON OUR BOATS? LOLZ. Send those troops marching through the ocean, bucko. Have at it. Ten months from now when your welfare state nation cobbles together enough slave labor and recycling dimes to put up another missile, we'll bat that one down too. Like a cat swatting a paper ball. BAP!

What now, Kim Jong Un?!?!

I didn't say war in Korea, I'm saying the US is not going to war in Korea, and the total lack of preparation for war, just confirms it.

But the preparation is adequate for a non-telegraphed swat of Pyongyang Jankitty Missilve v1.1.
A play that flies under your radar because it hasn't been rehashed in countless dusty tomes of Cold War tactics.

Really, what would they do?
Blitz the South?
Yell a lot?
Fire artillery at some disputed islands?

Their response options are limited.

If the Pentagon thought that the DPRK was actually going to take a shot, they'd be ramping up for war, just in case, but they're not even really preparing for an intercept, case in point, the Aegis BMD ships are not even in the Strike Group the Navy is sending, Carrier Strike Group One is the Bunker Hill, the Stockdale, the Gridley, and the Higgins, AFAIK, none of those are actually Aegis BMD ready, they don't have the SM3's on board, so they're not even packing the right missiles.

I think the Bunker Hill has SM2 Block IV, but that's the terminal interceptor not mid course, and they don't have that many, if they thought that the NK's were actually going to be firing ballistic missiles at them, they'd be bringing a hell of a lot more than that, they don't even have the THAAD set up in the ROK, they are weeks, if not months away, from even being in a position to start shooting stuff down, just to defend themselves, never mind defending the ROK and Japan.

Bottom line, they show no actual signs that they believe the NK's are going to do anything of consequence, to include preparing to shoot down an NK ballistic missile.

Well. That sucks.
Because swatting his missiles out of the sky from a place where he can't really reach us would be the ultimate middle finger to that clown.

That there is what the whole Korea Fake News is all about, Mid Course Intercept BMD in Alaska, the supposed DPRK threat is the only reason for its existence, it's a $50 billion boondoggle, it's useless against the Russians and Chinese, without the "DPRK ICBM!", Mid Course BMD in Alaska would have no raison d'etre, they've been propping that old chestnut up for twenty years now, that's the Golden Goose of the Missile Defense Agency, so hyping "ZOMG North Korea!" is the lifeblood for that program, there's no actual preparations for war, it's just marketing for an MIC entrenched interest.

There was no wolf when the third little pig built his brick house.
Which means straw house pig and stick house pig got to talk a lot of sh*t all the way up until they were fleeing for the brick house and screaming "please save us!".

There's a metaphor for Canada in there somewhere.
