I assume the younger people here don't know who Bent Scowcroft was, because it's a very long time since the GOP has had Scowcroftians at the helm (as Dubya's team look at first on paper to be Scowcroftian, but were taken over the small cabal of neocons).
Neocons are a joke. That is actually thanks to Trump, have to say that. Very unlikely that neocons will return. Far likely that the Republican party will turn old-school. Heck, Mattis (and Kelly) are old-school. And fought a goddam insurgency because of the neocons, so it's unlikely that they will want the neocons back. Flynn was the more political general, not them.
