His line about Mexicans was pretty appalling. Most illegals aren't here to do anything but work like dogs for very little money. Same thing our ancestors did, albeit legally. They shouldn't be spoken of like they're some kind of inhuman monsters. The issue is unsecured borders and economic harm to Americans, not dangerous Latinos.

OK, I can see this point of view.

What I don't understand is how it's any different than the way BHO disparaged large blocks of US Citizens.

What comments did he make that disparaged them? I believe working class Americans were often ignored, but I didn't hear anything hateful.

The country should argue this out. I'm taking the conservative position of birthright citizenship.

Some do, but he was clearly signalling to a racist demographic. He also has said he wants the kids gone, even the ones who are de facto Americans. Iirc he even wants actual American citizens stripped of their birthright citizenship. Not changing the law to prevent us citizenship from being conferred on the children of illegals, but actually retroactive stripping of citizenship. That's not something that should be tolerated by any American. Birthright citizenship is sacred.

Still not seeing hateful position, just because he has a beef with birthright citizenship. You can take issue with Trump on this issue but just because he disagrees doesn't make him hateful.

But don't some on the right already want to get rid of the 14th amendment because they fear "anchor babies"? I think this was a big topic a few years ago and a lot of people on the right really wanted to get rid of birthright citizenship.

I have nothing against the Boomers, they made a mess out there but I can't stand Gen-Xers. Maybe it's because I am considered to be an early Millennial, and I have my generation has been shitted on by mostly them saying we are nothing be lazy worthless, snake people (I have love/hate that term. On one hand it does sound cool but on the other hand I know what the insult is trying to do), etc....

His stance on birthright citizenship is not hateful, but wanting to strip citizens of their citizenship is pretty appalling. You have to betray the country or pledge fealty to a foreign power to get kicked out. But wait, let me think about this for a minute....

It's going to get a lot less white in the future and there is no way to stop it. I have no problem with it but if you think you can turn the tide on demographics, when the white demo is getting much older, you are wrong.
