Can a non-Trump supporter explain to me how Trump's stance on illegal immigration is hateful?

IMHO, it comes down to whether you think the American tax payer should pay to house, clothes, feed, and educate foreign citizens despite the fact that the US can barley take care of its own citizens.

The immigration stance itself is not hateful. We clearly need to do something about illegal immigration. Trump attacked the immigrants instead of focusing on the problem of unsecured borders. That just fuels hate.

I support Trump as an alternative to the establishment, but I'm not a fan boy. I will give my view, some may see bias in it.

I believe most Trump opponents tend to be happy with the Progressive status quo moving toward a more global community, open borders, etc. They see Trump's stance as archaic, a reflection of a past colonialism and therefore hateful to 3rd world citizens.

Trump attacked illegal immigrants and focused on the problem of unsecured borders. That doesn't fuel hate, media spin that Trump hates all immigrants, that fuels the hate.

His line about Mexicans was pretty appalling. Most illegals aren't here to do anything but work like dogs for very little money. Same thing our ancestors did, albeit legally. They shouldn't be spoken of like they're some kind of inhuman monsters. The issue is unsecured borders and economic harm to Americans, not dangerous Latinos.

More fake news. If you actually read what he said (and substituting "there're" for "they're", which is what he actually said), there was nothing controversial about what he said at all.

Both are issues. You can't front like some illegals coming across the borders don't bring drugs and violence. His comments about illegal immigrants from Mexico were not appalling, they only seem that way if you are under the mistaken impression that he meant all illegal immigrants are rapist drug dealers, even the kids. He clearly did not mean that, the media just pretended that he did, fake news indeed.

Some do, but he was clearly signalling to a racist demographic. He also has said he wants the kids gone, even the ones who are de facto Americans. Iirc he even wants actual American citizens stripped of their birthright citizenship. Not changing the law to prevent us citizenship from being conferred on the children of illegals, but actually retroactive stripping of citizenship. That's not something that should be tolerated by any American. Birthright citizenship is sacred.

OK, I can see this point of view.

What I don't understand is how it's any different than the way BHO disparaged large blocks of US Citizens.
