With Trump, let's see just what side will be "crushed" in the end. And simply it's delusional to think that "leftism" or "the right" will go away in a democracy. Even in a totalitarian system the other side is just repressed, banned, etc. but will come out if you give people true political freedom.
Anyway, I see no end to the continuing division in US politics. It's only to get worse. But seems that you guys want that and think that the opposition "can be crushed". And as Trump continues to face problems and likely won't save the day, the next "enemy of the people" will be likely the left, the democrats. Especially if they win mid-terms. So it's not going to be the Chinese, the Russians or even ISIS, it's going to be your fellow Americans who oppose you.
In truth how you can influence the other side of the political spectrum is simply by policies that everybody notices to be working. Basically that they take the other sides policies and implement them to be theirs. Good examples of this is social security in the US. Another is the War on Terror, that the democrat hawks took as normal procedure. That takes a long time and truly isn't made with fiery Bannon-like rhetoric of us vs them.
