President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.

The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kushner only recently disclosed the meeting, though not its content, in confidential government documents described to The New York Times.

In a statement on Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. said he had met with the Russian lawyer at the request of an acquaintance. “After pleasantries were exchanged,” he said, “the woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton. Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense. No details or supporting information was provided or even offered. It quickly became clear that she had no meaningful information.”

“We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” said Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team. “Specifically, we have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports, was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the President and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier. "

I think this is the bomb that is going to sink the MSM and the trump/russia narrative.

If the left wants to pursue this, they will end up passively confirming that he was offered information re: cllinton/russia collusion, which was always in my mind the more credible theory in the case of any russian collusion having taken place.

MSM have been backed into a corner on this narrative and they're coming out fists swinging in one last huzzah. Too bad for them the truth doesn't match their narrative whichever angle they swing from. Maybe they could pull this one off half a year ago, but they've burnt so much credibility now that I think a lot of people are going to start seeing through this new bullshit narrative rather quickly.

I think there's still a sizeable cohort who get their information from various establishment sources without thinking too much. CNN is most likely dead at this point, WaPo/NYT/Fox are treading water, but the other networks are going to maintain their mainstream cred by feeding on the carcass. I think it was morning joe that was accusing CNN of creating political porn. These people are professionals at being slippery - the meme war is only beginning :p

Definitely within the internet space though, radiating out from places like /pol/, /the_donald, conservative youtube, the MSM is a laughing stock. But many irl aren't fully engaged with internet culture. Most likely be a different story a generation from now though.
