footage of the first days of war are coming out now

this is film of the air assault on Hostomel airfield, now called the Battle of Antonov Airport

this is Russian VDV Airborne Troops, looks like in the second wave

it should be pointed out, that even though the Russians fought a pitched battle for this airfield ?

satellite photos show that they are not even using it now, there's no activity at the airport

the whole battle served no purpose to the Russians in the end

in the south the Russians have reportedly been stopped at Mikolayiv on the Bug river

they have attempted to break out to the northwest & northeast, along the H24 & H11 highways

both those two columns have apparently been totally wiped out by the Ukrainians

the Russians are fighting the Raputitsa now

like I said weeks ago, I didn't think the Russians would attack right before spring mud season

but apparently Putin was convinced that this was going to be an easy victory & over in just days

so now it is stuck in the mud, they can't drive off the roads without getting stuck in the Raputitsa

so all they can do is launch columns up the roads

which are of course sitting ducks for being ambushed by the Ukrainians with NATO anti armor weapons

I find it ironic that the Russians are violating their own maxim.

what the Ukrainians need now

is truck mounted shore launched anti shipping missiles, like the Swedish RBS15 Mk 4

and truck mounted medium ranged air defense systems like SLAMRAAM

I think they eventually will have actually captured the entire country and start their counter-insurgency operations. I just don't, at this point, see how they can possibly win the counter-insurgency. It's already obviously over except for how much death and destruction the Russians are willing to inflict, and how much cost they are willing to pay for their inevitable loss.

The situation is very Russian.

You can have either potatoes or toilet paper, but not both, and the toilet paper was soaked while the potatoes are hard as rocks. So you just get vodka and drink yourself to death. It's no wonder every single former Soviet republic ran from them like fucking kidnap victims from a suburban pyscho dungeon.
