The economy's going down during his campaign, probably with the help of Dems. Trump's spin will be that they did it just to win an election. It's a good bit.

No it's not, it's damage control. The Dems might be so incompetent they can't take advantage of it, but the economy in the shitter doesn't help Trump at all.

The Democrats might still lose, but it will play heavily in their favor, which is why they are wishing for a recession in the first place. Nothing would help them more. A recession would take the odds from a Donald Trump lock, to actually having a chance at winning. If even a recession doesn't hurt Trump, he's a political mastermind the likes of which we have never seen.

A recession hurts every POTUS, if Trump is the first POTUS to not be hurt by it, he's an absolute political genius. FDR was re-elected despite a shit economy, a couple times, but it still hurt him, even though he convinced Americans the depression was all the Republicans fault, even though he crapped the bed and dragged it out with his New Deal.

No they haven't. People don't react to recessions before they happen, just because the media talked about the theoretical possibility of one, and logically concluded it would hurt Trump if it happened before the election.

That is not how reality works. You may have reacted to it already, but you are not representative of the average American, and you are projecting a view that very few people hold on the masses.

You compare apples to oranges, HW Bush lost dude, people didn't give him a pass for the recession. They didn't give Jimmy Carter a pass either.

trump's appeal is too synonymous with the economy for a recession to not hurt him. note his general approval ratings vs. his handling of the economy ratings, even some democrats give him points for that
