For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Actually, only one license is needed per residence and the farmer whose land I'm on has one. I'm covered. Thanks for your concern over protecting the BBC though. You are a model citizen.Nukedog wrote:Good. It breaks my brain that you people are ok with licensing something like TVMontegriffo wrote:Actually, only one license is needed per residence and the farmer whose land I'm on has one. I'm covered. The word license obviously confuses you. Try replacing it with TV fee.California wrote:It breaks my brain that you people are ok with licensing something like TVMontegriffo wrote:Actually, only one license is needed per residence and the farmer whose land I'm on has one. You don't have to pass a test like a driving license it's just a fee to watch the BBC. Is all TV free in the states?

Do you not have commercials on the BBC?Montegriffo wrote:The word license obviously confuses you. Try replacing it with TV fee.California wrote:It breaks my brain that you people are ok with licensing something like TVMontegriffo wrote:

We pay for cable but there are many channels that broadcast for free. The channels themselves pay a license fee to the government to secure their frequency, and advertising pays for the channel to run.
If you have an antenna, you can get probably about 20 channels at any given time for free

No. The BBC has no adverts and therefore no corporate masters.California wrote: Do you not have commercials on the BBC?
You can watch any other TV station online without a licence.
The fee's collected from the licence and selling programs abroad are spent on programming. There is no-one collecting the profits and the government doesn't get it's hands on a single penny. What's not to like?
